Abstract
Terrestrial molluscs present an increased level of endemism, which reaches almost 33% of the species in the southwest area of the White Mountains. The unique topography and complexity of the Cretan mountains provides ample refuges for terrestrial snails.

Method Description
Sampling stations for the monitoring program are varied by altitude and habitat. 150 sampling sites (both in points and transects) are used, in which active searching and soil filtering is taking place. Sampling density is not fixed temporally and is taking place throughout the year, depending on the altitude of the sampled habitat.
