Umweltbundesamt GmbH is committed to taking appropriate measures to make this website compliant with the current version of the Web Accessibility Law (Web-Zugänglichkeits-Gesetz, WZG) transposing  Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 October 2016 on the accessibility of the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies (OJ L 327, 2.12.2016, p. 1.) into Austrian law.

This accessibility statement applies to the website www.deims.org.

Section 1 Mandatory content requirements

Compliance status

Due to the following inconsistencies and exceptions, the website is partially compliant with Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) and with the current European standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2021-03).

Non accessible content:

The content listed below does currently not meet the web accessibility requirements.

a) Non-conformity with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines

After running the Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool (WAVE; https://wave.webaim.org/), the following criteria have been identified as not conforming to the WCAG 2.1

  • Some buttons in map displays have missing descriptive texts
  • There are NoScript elements present on some pages
  • Some pages feature redundant links
  • Layout tables are used on some pages
  • Heading levels on some pages are skipped
  • Some link texts are not meaningful enough
  • Links can normally only be distinguished from regular text by colour
  • The keyboard focus is not visible enough
  • Dynamic status/result messages are missing (aria live regions)

We are currently working to fix these issues. Upon request, we can provide accessible versions of content required by creating static documents.

b) Disproportionate burden

c) Content that does not fall within the scope of applicable legislation

The majority of our content is provided by users, including the hyperlinks directing users to external sources such as YouTube. It is not possible for us to ensure that meaningful link texts are offered for such user-provided hyperlinks. Neither is it possible to provide audio descriptions for video resources.
