Method Description
Ammonium nitrogen is determined by means of colorimetric method: in the presence of the sodium nitroprusside catalyst, the ammonium ion reacts with the phenolic group present in the sodium salicylate; the oxidizing action of sodium dichloro isocyanurate leads to the formation of the indophenol blue compound whose spectrum has a maximum absorbance at a wavelength of 690 nm.
