An extended monitoring programme in the Samaria National Park, with semi-quantitative sampling methods to keep track of the relative abundance presence of various classes of the Arthropoda phyllum. Sampling frequency and density varies according to monitored species.

Methodology

Method Description

For the capture of the monitored species a variety of methods are used in conjuncture and depending on the species' biology and behaviour. These methods include pitfall traps, tulgren funnels, hand pickings (for the larger species) and UV-light assisted visual counts during the night. Sampling is performed bi-monthly.
