LTER Zöbelboden, Austria, Metadata - Soil temperature

Soil temperature was collected at plots with condensed field measurement equipment (so called intensive monitoring plots IP1, IP2 and IP3) at the LTER Zöbelboden site. IP1 and IP3 are situated on a plateau (850–956 m a.s.l.) and IP2 on a steep north facing slope (30–60°) extending from 850 m down to 550 m a.s.l. Triassic dolomite is the predominant bedrock material, partly interspersed with limestone plate layers. Soils are mainly chromic cambisols or hydromorphic stagnosols on the plateau and lithic or rendzic leptosols (rendsina) with patches of chromic cambisols on the slope.
Soil temperature [°C] was measured at different soil depths (ca. 5 cm, 20cm and 35cm) at IP1 (ZOE_0258, ZOE_0263, ZOE_0276) from 2001 to 2012 using TH2-f Fenwall-Thermistors. At the shallow soils on IP2 soil temperature was measured at about 5 cm soil depth with TH2-f Fenwall-Thermistors (ZOE_0665, ZOE_0685, ZOE_0695) and Pt100 temperature sensors (ZOE_0676, ZOE_0685). Soil temperature data from IP2 are available from the years 2001 to 2022. SMT 160-30 sensors measured soil temperature at different depths (5 cm, 15 cm and 35cm) at IP3 (ZOE_2869, ZOE_2871, ZOE_2876) from the years 2011 to 2022. Data are available as 30-minutes-averages.
