Vegetation
The vegetation consists of dwarf shrubs (dominated by Sarcopoterium spinosum) that cover approx. 40% of the area, and annuals growing mostly in open areas and partly beneath shrubs. Annuals cover up to 90% of the open areas and include approx. 80% of all species. Herbaceous plants (mostly annuals) account for 70% of the above-ground primary production
